Welcome to Hobo Phox's home on the web!

I feel that humans are built for travel and adventure and we're not meant to be cooped up in some box which we then spend most of our days slaving away to barely afford, that's not living, that's waiting slowly to die while others profit off your hard work!

About Ryan (Hobo Phox)

Ryan is a 40-something year old houseless traveler (hobo / nomad) and adventurer who is traveling the United States of America by various means of transport including:

Bus / Passenger Train

Occasionally when I can afford to do so, I will travel mainly short distances via one of these methods.

Freight Train Hopping

Sometimes I'll hop a freight train to get places for free, bit riskier but always an option where trains run.

Hitchhiking / Ride Hailing

Sometimes I'll pay for as short trip to get to a work site and other times I may hitchhike.

Unlike your typical homeless person (home bum / bum) I work to cover the costs of my adventures as-well-as saving money on the side and even investing some for the future. I am not homeless, I am houseless by choice, choosing to live in a tent and/or motel/hotels, etc. with no permanent home.

I am a minimalist who carries only the essentials I need to keep clean and to keep sheltered from the elements. I use various apps on my smart phone to find temporary jobs or gig work as I need to do so. This way of life requires a strong ability to be resourceful and it is not for the faint of heart and that is perfectly fine as that is all part of the adventure!
